Sustainable Business Practices

Facilitation & Process is committed to demonstrating a major commitment to building a business model on environmentally and socially responsible business practices that include:

Reduce, Recycle and Reuse

All office practices employ green office practices, such as reducing paper use by working with erasable boards and electronic media when feasible, the consistent use of recycled materials including, purchasing products with a high recycled content (post-consumer where possible); purchasing reconditioned technology equipment; and participating in local recycling programs.

Lowering Carbon Footprint

Office practices include attention to little things like, using Compact Florescent Lights and rechargeable batteries; purchasing home office electricity and web hosting services from companies offering alternative energy sources, and employing conservation principles (i.e., turning off power strips, and lowering thermostat). By using green energy in our home and office last year we avoided the release of almost six tons of carbon dioxide emissions. Transportation practices include using bicycling &  public transit (when feasible) ;using fuel efficient Zipcars, (car sharing) for other trips, and using teleconferencing (when feasible).

Acting with Social Responsibility

Business practices include purchasing products and services from locally owned companies and vendors when possible, supporting in small ways, social causes (for example, using Credo long distance and cell phone services) and also in larger ways, by contributing 5% of profits to social causes as well as giving back to the community by serving on the board of a local nonprofit and serving as a volunteer for Social Venture Partners of Portland and Board Chair for Resolutions Northwest, Community Mediation Center.
